Audi hybrid technology

Our hybrid models feature a power meter which replaces the conventional rev counter in the instrument cluster. It keeps the driver informed of the hybrid’s current operating situation. Display information includes:

• Ignition (off)
• Vehicle ready for use
• Charge state of the lithium-ion battery
• Battery charged by recuperated overrun and braking energy (charge)
• Possible range for electric driving
• Combustion engine working at 100 per cent
• Limit for additional combustion engine start-up in EV mode (efficiency)
• Boosting – the electric motor supporting the combustion engine (boost)
• Heavy braking without energy recuperation

An energy flow display in the centre of the instrument cluster shows the driver easily understood animated information about the function of the hybrid drivetrain and exactly which components are active. This display can also be called up on the MMI screen, along with consumption data.
